Performance Responsibilities

• Instruction & Curriculum Implementation:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging music lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Visual and Performing Arts.

  • Introduce foundational music concepts, including rhythm, melody, pitch, movement, notation, and music appreciation across diverse genres and cultures.

  • Integrate instructional technology and interactive tools to enhance learning outcomes.

• Classroom & Performance Management:

  • Establish and maintain a structured, safe, and encouraging classroom environment conducive to active artistic learning.

  • Organize, rehearse, and direct school-wide music programs, choir ensembles, and seasonal student performances throughout the academic year.

  • Oversee the proper use, inventory, and maintenance of musical instruments, sound equipment, and classroom materials.

• Assessment & Student Support:

  • Assess student progress using formative and summative evaluation methods to guide instruction.

  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate varying learning styles, abilities, and multicultural perspectives.

• Professional Collaboration & Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, colleagues, and administration regarding student growth and event schedules.

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, PLC (Professional Learning Community) sessions, and school committee activities.

  • Attend required school events and programs outside regular instructional hours.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from an accredited institution.

  • Valid North Carolina Professional Educator's License in Music (K–12) (or eligibility for NC lateral entry/residency licensure).

• Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of elementary music pedagogical approaches 

  • Strong vocal and keyboard/instrumental proficiency.

  • Excellent classroom management, human relations, and communication skills.
